Go underwater this summer with The Galway Dive School

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to dive with flashlights, take digital pictures underwater or float effortlessly like an Astronaut?  Kids can try their hand at underwater diving this summer with the launch of this summer’s fun, easy and safe classes given by Galway Dive School.Parents can now book their kids into Bubblemaker and Seal Team classes at Leisureland, all conducted by trained PADI instructors and with no pre-training required, the classes are fun, safe and use equipment made for children.

The PADI Bubblemaker program is a first introduction to scuba diving for boys and girls age 8-12 years, and is a great way for youngsters to join in the family fun of scuba diving or even start a trend!   All participants are given a certificate at the end.

The PADI Seal Team is for young divers aged 10-14 years who are looking for action-packed fun in a pool by doing exciting scuba “AquaMissions”. You will learn about safe diving, navigation, buoyancy, underwater photography, environmental awareness and more.  Here’s your chance to do some cool stuff in the pool, meet friends and share in the adventure of the underwater world.

Charlie Brehony of The Galway Dive School said, “These classes give kids the chance to try out underwater diving in a safe and fun environment.  As well as learning how to dive safely, we give them an awareness of the aquatic environment and the wonders of the underwater world.  We are also running Family Try Dives, where a parent and children can come along to try out the diving together.  We’ve teamed up with www.mykidstime.ie this year for the first time, to offer parents the convenience of booking these classes online”.

The Galway Dive School was set up by Charlie Brehony, a native of Salthill, almost seven years ago and has now trained hundreds of people, from the age 8 to age 68, to a variety of levels.  With a variety of courses on offer, all under the PADI system, (Professional Association of Diving Instructors), recognised worldwide, the Galway Dive School also teaches the IAHD system (International Association of Handicapped Divers).

Galway based website Mykidstime.ie is a free resource for families in Galway. With a full range of listings for activities, classes and clubs for children of all ages, as well as information on services and events for children and families.  Mykidstime.ie has also compiled details of Summer Camps and Classes around the City & County, including a special section on Water Sports, making it easy for parents to find this information in one handy place.
