Every teenager out there is going to despise me after this article! But what harm if they don’t hate me there going to hate someone else! After all isn’t that what all teen’s thrive on, complaining, moaning, having the weight of the entire world on there shoulder’s ok best leave it at that don’t want to go to far.

You lot may find this hard to believe but I used to be a lean mean teen machine once! No im serious it all kicked off on my 13^th birthday but when I woke up the morning of my 20^th birthday I decided enough is enough I must snap out of this phase and so I did . Aw the memories of being a teen the fake I.d card’s fake drivers licence and fake hair colour!

The crack we used to have there is a place in my home town called “The Walks” man this was the place to be on weekend nights if you were between 13 and 16 it was great lushin, shaggin, smoking the list goes on. I think every town probably has there own little place where the teen’s gather to do everything and anything that involves breaking the law in some way. Even when we were getting served in the pub’s we would still get a few can’s and take ourselves down “The Walks” to get mouldy before going to the pub (A) it was more crack and (B) was far more cheaper.

Now nightclubs were a little bit more tricky see getting served in pub’s was the easy part but getting passed the big round bouncers was always a challenge not so much for us chicks because we just had to wear a short skirt and walk straight in but the lads were never keen on wearing skirts so they found it a bit more challenging! We would go into the bathrooms open the window and one by one they’d hop in it often resulted in us getting barred but wasn’t that the main reason for doing it ? After all we all wanted the reputation of being a bad ass the lads always went over board “hey man I got barred from the club at the weekend , was caught fighting and the bouncers through us out so we started laying into them outside” strange how they never mentioned “hey man got barred from the club at the weekend , we were caught climbing in the bathroom window again and the bouncers through us out we ran for our lives once we got outside”

I must admit I often felt sorry for them because us chicks had it so easy. We get thrown out and following weekend we just shovel on the slap take the skirt up a few more inches dye the hair and abracadabra there’s a new chick in town resulting in us walking straight passed the bouncers who barred us the weekend before!!!!!!!!!

Teenager’s seemed to have changed so much take school disco’s for instance when we were 15 we thought we were way to cool for school disco’s but these days there still going at 17 I think its great ! One thing about teen’s that makes me laugh is when the word “disco” is mentioned. All hell breaks loose what am I going to wear ? Hmm maybe clothes would be an idea ! What way am I going to wear my hair ? Hmm how about on your head ! Ah seriously everything is planned to perfection chicks with hair, make up, footwear, Which lad there going to be after ? And the burning question will you be wearing your bra with or without tissue? Lads with Who’s going to get the lush your brother or mine ? Who’s going to get the steamers your cousin or mine ? How much gel are you going to put in your hair ? And there burning question will you be wearing your trousers with or without socks ? I don’t know why they bother planning because when the disco is finally on a month later all plan’s go out the window!

There is one disco in particular I must mention because to raise awareness to the non irish parents with teen’s if you hear your kid asking to go to “Ballymac” take my advice tell them not a hope in hell . Teens from Galway, Tuam, Athenry, Banillsiloe etc come on buses to attend these disco’s .I have cousins and friends with teenage brothers and sisters and the stories they have told us about these “Ballymac” disco’s are beyond belief between bullying, physical assault, excessive drug use excessive alcohol use and even sexual games! I was horrified at some the stories we were told . Concerned parents went on “Galway Bay Fm” radio station a couple of years ago going mental about the disco’s that they should be closed down there a disgrace etc etc and they were stopped for only a couple of months and then it was business as usual . Is it just me or are today’s teen’s far beyond there years ? Mentally and physically !! My 15yr old cousin and I went into a shop two weeks ago she went to the counter and bought 20 steamers . I went up after and was refused I was asked for I.d me Chelsea bell 26yrs young was asked for I.d I was on a high for the day I could not believe my cousin got served and I didn’t .

I often get asked for I.d what can I say all the cleanser, toner and moituriser over the years have done me justice either that or I look so wrinkled the shop keepers are trying to humour me ! Im thinking of bringing my cousin out with me next week so she can get me into the clubs yahoo !!!!

Its so hard for teens here in loughrea because there is absolutely nothing for them to do I mean nothing at all . The local hang out for teens around here is “Chart Busters” honestly you walk in there anytime after school hours and you’ll find them eyes glued to computer screens brains focused on wait for it
……. BEBO ………BRAIN EVEPORATING BEBO OVERTAKING ……………………….

Ok ok calm down don’t stress im not going to start picking on “Bebo” I know its not just teens that are obsessed ! Hmm you all know who you are !!! That’s it that’s the only thing teens have to occupy there time round here its quite sad ! There should be arcades or a shopping mall or somewhere for them to hang out .

Thing that worries me most about the teens of today is they don’t seem to be as street wise as we were some years back ! ( I blame bebo ha ) but seriously they all seem to be so easily led . There like an army of robots each one follows the other each one hangs on the word of the other ! Whatever happened to having your own brain trying your hardest to be different trying to stand out from the rest ! God forbid a crew can have a difference of opinion now days . No everyone loves the same music same tv programmes same foods same colours same clothes same sports etc Ahhhhhhhhhhh !!!!!!! Same bloody everything NEWSFLASH “HUGE SALE ON IDENTITIES THIS WEEKEND GET YOURS WHILST STOCKS LAST ”

If you don’t like do tiesto say you don’t like do tiesto ( how can you not like him he’s brilliant ) anyway if your wearing something your mates like but you don’t then don’t wear it !!

Why bother adapting the attitude that you need to fit in with everyone !

Why not adapt the attitude that everyone needs to fit in with you !

Everyone is unique in there own way , don’t let yourself be moulded into being someone you don’t want to be! Be the person you want to be
